A five day, four-night nature and wildlife photography workshop for women, in the heart of the Selkirk Mountains

‘Elements’ is a series of photography workshops crafted specifically for women and female-identifying individuals. Rooted in connection, creativity, and a deep respect for the natural world, each experience is thoughtfully designed to foster community, build confidence, and inspire personal and artistic growth.

This Chapter: Revelstoke

Revelstoke is a beautiful BC town tucked between the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, where glacier-fed rivers carve through old-growth cedar forest, wildflower meadows climb toward the alpine, and waterfalls tumble into the valleys. It’s a small, tight-knit mountain community with incredible beauty on its doorstep.

This small group workshop co-lead with Dani Lefrancois is designed to let nature set the pace – one where we let the light, the terrain, and the wildlife dictate the rhythm. We’ll spend our days tracking soft morning light through wildflower meadows, learning to read water for long-exposure waterfall work, and quietly watching for the wildlife that calls this corridor of the Columbia Mountains home. There is no rushing here and the experience is as much about the connections and friendships we will make as the photography itself.

Where We’ll Stay

Our home base is a beautifully restored heritage inn in Revelstoke, chosen for its comfort as much as its beauty. Think thoughtfully designed rooms, a communal table for their amazing breakfasts and late-night opportunities to chat and share photos in the lounge.

The Highlight: A Helicopter Evening in the Alpine

On one evening of the workshop, we trade the trailhead for a helicopter, lifting out of the valley and into the high alpine for some time above the treeline, we’ll photograph a mountain evening most people only dream of – jagged peaks catching the last light, alpine tarns turning gold, and waterfalls threading down into granite bowls. Best of all, we will have this spot entirely to ourselves as no roads access this pristine area.

What to Expect

• 4 nights based out of a boutique inn in Revelstoke
• Small, intentional group size – women and female-identifying photographers only, kept deliberately small enough to fit comfortably into our helicopter and 4WD vehicles as one unit, and small enough that real friendships have room to form
• A slower-paced approach to nature and wildlife photography, built around patience and observation over volume
• Guided sessions in wildflower meadows and at waterfalls throughout the Revelstoke area
• One evening alpine helicopter excursion for golden hour shooting
• Shared meals, group photo reviews, and space to connect with fellow photographers
• Time to explore the character of Revelstoke itself – a mountain town shaped by rail history, deep snow, and an unpretentious love of the outdoors

Respect for the Land

Respect for our environment and wild neighbours is our top priority. We are guests in this landscape, and we photograph it with that in mind – taking care not to crush plants or trample fragile terrain in our effort to get the shot, keeping a respectful distance from wildlife rather than approaching or calling them in, and leaving no trace of our time here. Practically, that means staying on established trails and durable ground whenever possible, packing out everything we bring in, using long lenses rather than closing the gap on animals, and keeping our group small and our voices low so we move through the backcountry with as little disturbance as possible.
